About
I'm a storyteller, children's book author, motivational speaker, and historical tour guide. My motto is "Kids who read succeed."
Since 1995, I have been a professional storyteller, an art I studied at East Tennessee State University. I have honed my craft over decades providing custom storytelling programs to schools and telling stories at festivals and other events,
As a recipient of the Alabama State Council on the Arts grant, I was was able to study story origins in the Gullah Islands and in South Africa. I research stories from around the world, and though I specialize in the African diaspora, I also have also studied stories from Australia, England, South America and many other parts of the world. I hold a master's degree in history, focusing on civil rights, and use my knowledge to create characters that encourage students to study and learn more about the past.
